To say that Hoxton has undergone a transformation would probably be an understatement. Not so long ago Hoxton was a bit of rough area, filled with strip bars and avoided by the affluent middle classes. As this area evolved the old and the new created a strange mix between the new trendy bars and clubs and the old pubs and less salubrious establishments.
Fast forward to today and you will find a vibrant and exciting area frequented by a cool and quirky crowd known for their eccentric choice of fashion. This gave birth to an abundance of art galleries, restaurants and clubs.
Hoxton Square is the centre and heartbeat of this area and warm summer evenings are greeted by a young and trendy mix of people partying late into the night with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Nearby Old Street provides a fascinating mix of restaurants and clubs that only adds to the appeal of the area.
Hoxton property prices have only been going in one direction and that is definitely upwards. With the extension of the East London Line providing rail access to the area that it was sorely lacking prices have risen steeply, leading to an exodus of a large number of galleries down the road to Shoreditch. In 2012, Hoxton is definitely the place to be.
