Whitechapel is another area of East London in the throes of urban regeneration. Like nearby Shoreditch and Spitalfields, the area has long been popular amongst the artistic community, with the Whitechapel Art Gallery attracting international recognition. More recently developers have started to focus on this area, identifying it as an attractive location for office occupiers. The area is in close proximity to the City of London and Bishopsgate and in the coming years will also be subject to major transport improvements in addition to Whitechapel Station’s inclusion within the Crossrail scheme.
Due to its close proximity to the financial districts of both the City and Canary Wharf, Whitechapel is attracting companies in those sectors in particular. The area is currently subject to several large mixed-use developments such as One Commercial Street and Goodmans Fields both of which will provide high quality office space, luxury apartments and prime retail.
